Q: How did you get started as an actress?
Linda: As
a young girl, I had dreams of living a modest, practical life as a school
teacher, a wife and a mom. But one day I was attending a stage play at
the Warner Theater in downtown D.C. and I visualized myself on that stage and
it dawned on me that I could be as much a teacher on the stage as in the
classroom. And from that moment forward I became an actress.
Q: What’s been your best moment to date as an actress?
Linda:
I’ve had leads and supporting roles in three feature films, four stage plays
and several short indie films and my best moment was playing Darlene Karr in
the feature film Sisterhood of the Girls Who Won’t Date Me, written and
directed by Max Radbill. I got to play the risqué, high school principal who
had a very unconventional way of teaching her students life lessons.
Q: Is there a director whose work you admire and with whom
you would like to work?
Linda:
Yes, I would love to work with Ava DuVernay. I really loved her work on A Wrinkle in Time because she showed how a regular girl, like me, could do
incredible things. She clearly demonstrated how, when you become one with the
universe and with self, you can find strength to overcome any obstacle and if
you don’t focus on where you want to go, you could end up anywhere.
Q: Do you have a wish list of directors whom you would like
to work with?
Linda: Yes,
Ryan Coogler, Steve McQueen, Regina King, Ricky Staub and Craig Brewer.
Q: What’s your background?
Linda:
I’m still creating it.
